Cesc Fabregas Heads to Barcelona, Nothing Arsenal Can Do

Zaakir HoosenJul 5, 2010

I read a number of articles, blogs, and comments that could only be from Arsenal fans who feel Barcelona and their players are illegally adopting Cesc Fabregas.

I think what we need to understand is that the reason why this is such a hot topic, is simply because Fabregas himself has stated time and time again that he desires to return to Barcelona and represent the club where it all began.

That's what initially brought the spotlight on this whole transfer-saga. Then came Barcelona with their offer, which according to many reports, Arsenal rejected claiming they want to keep the Spanish Captain.

So now we hear and read comments made by Barcelona-based players with regards to how happy they will be if Cesc joins them at Camp Nou.

So let's take all of this into context. It's actually quite simple to understand...we just need to put the emotion aside.

Fabregas is currently in South Africa with Spain (as we all know), and he lives in the same hotel as the rest of the team, which comprises of eight Barcelona players.

They train everyday together as a unit, even if they go out for coffee or something, and there's no discrimination on club players going together.

When they play their games, Fabregas is alongside them. If he's on the bench, then obviously not, but otherwise, there are eight Barcelona players around him more often than not.

We also need to understand that he played there and he started off his career in the Barca youth system (many of these players were part of that system, same goes with the likes of Messi).

So the point I'm trying to establish is that all of this has an influence on Fabregas and his decision whether or not to move.

Wenger will want to discuss his future, but that can only be done after Spain's WC campaign is concluded.

So we ask ourselves, what do these Barcelona players know about Cesc's future?

Well, if they're saying certain things regarding his future, maybe they know something...maybe something Cesc mentioned to them. What happens behind closed doors we can't always deny or reject.

It's clear that many would like to see Cesc remain at the Emirates for the upcoming season, but then I ask, if he does decide to stay, won't this topic come about again next season?

He has made it clear that at some stage he would return to Barca, and the best time is now. Barcelona is on top, the La Liga is hot, all the hype is there, the great rivalry seems to be reignited, but the influx of major stars are at both Madrid and Barca.

Arsenal is not where they'd like to be in terms of silverwear, so do they have enough to challenge both domestically and in Europe?

There are many questions, all of which can be answered both positively and negatively, but ultimately as a true supporter, you would want the best for the player and the club...right?

At the end of the day, Cesc will leave Arsenal and make his much anticipated return to Spain. Whether he will find himself on the bench or getting sufficient game time, is another discussion.

So while you might moan and argue that players are out of line by saying certain things, they might, and in many regards, know more than we do.
