No.1.

The best, highest-paid., highest goal scorer.

The world is obsessed about people who are the 'Best' in their field. The same goes with football. The never ending debate of the past, the present, and the future - Who is the best player in the world? For about 2-3 years now, experts, fans, pundits, team-mates have talked about who is better - Ronaldo or Messi?

In this article, I will tell you exactly who, currently, the best player in the world is.

The world remains divided on this topic. Some say its David Villa, a consistent goal scorer and definitely Spain's World Cup Hero. Some say its David Villa's teammate, Xavi, whose vision, creativity and team play is unmatched.

More than a few people regard Manchester United's Golden Boy - Wayne Rooney, as the world’s best player because of his passion, desire, and he being a goal scoring machine also adds to his value. Even more than Rooney, people recognize Kaka as the World’s best. A complete footballer.

But most people, for good reason, regard one of Ronaldo or Messi as the world’s best player. I don’t have much to say here, because everyone is well aware of these two and their abilities.

Both have carried their teams (national teams not included), single handedly to tremendous success. Both are the superstars, alpha males of their teams. Both have racked up awards, goals, assists and critical acclaim. Both earn a fortune, every week. Both, apparently, are at the top of the football-ing ladder.

My heart says that Cristiano Ronaldo is the World’s best player because he’s my favorite, but is it enough for him to be the best player in the World?

The answer is a painful, No.

Granted, the players I have mentioned so far are 'one of the world’s best,' but none of them is the 'Best Player in the World.'

You must wonder, "Who the hell is he talking about?" Well, wonder no more. The World’s Best Football/Soccer Player is: Wesley Sneijder.

Wesley Sneijder is the heartbeat of both - Inter Milan and the Netherlands. The 'Real Reject,' made most of his rejection. He carried Inter Milan on his shoulders to not only Champions League glory, but was also the architect of Inter Milan's treble! Every week, Inter Milan played quality opponents but Inter Milan triumphed, every time.

Even after the departure of Zlatan Ibrahamovic, Inter pulled off the unthinkable.

Inter won their first Champions League title in 45 years, beating teams like Chelsea, and embarrassing the mighty Barcelona, in the process. They also comprehensively beat Bundesliga's best, Bayern Munich. Quite a fantastic season and Sneijder was the playmaker, the vision, the determination and 'the man' for Inter Milan.

The story remains the same when we talk about the Dutch National Team. 'The Oranje' are unbeaten in 24 international games and will be playing in the WC 2010 Semi-Finals against a promising-Suarez-less Uruguay. The Dutch are favorites to win the tie and reach the Finals and possibly break the curse of underperforming in major tournaments and finally, win the coveted World Cup for the Netherlands.

Sneijder, again, was the maestro for the Dutch. He has been in the middle of all the action, delivering every single time.

I can’t remember the last time Sneijder had a 'bad' game. The biggest shock came when the Dutch knocked out football Giants, Brazil. Sneijder was credited with two goals, and of course, the Man of the Match award.

Sneijder has shown all the attributes of the world’s best player, performing at both - Domestic and International levels, while being the protagonist and top grade performer for both teams.

This is what places Wesley Sneijder above all.

Until Next Time...
