NBA Rumors: LeBron James, Chris Bosh, and Dwyane Wade, Miami's For You!

Thomas GaliciaJul 1, 2010

I wanted to start off with the easiest sales pitch to get LeBron and Bosh to join Wade in Miami.

So, I searched YouTube for videos of Miami women.

Of course, none of these videos were deemed acceptable to me, as they were either too contrived (beauty pageants) or were ruined by one factor or another (ok just one factor, fat dudes).

However I did have fun perusing the comments left by some of the people on one of the videos and noticed something that you'd have to have grown up in Miami to really notice.

Outsiders have a different point of view of "The Magic City" than locals do.

I find it a quirky place—Los Angeles without the pretentiousness.  A new city with an infrastructure that could be described as anything from "sprawling" to "drawn up by an chimpanzee who was given enough LSD to kill a donkey."

One of my favorite sayings about Miami is "Sunny place filled with shady people", a sentiment echoed in shows set in Miami like "Miami Vice", "Burn Notice", "CSI: Miami", and the first couple of seasons of "Nip/Tuck". Notice how shows like "Happy Days", "Laverne & Shirley", and "Full House" weren't set here.

Of course, this view of Miami is just a tad exaggerated, and some non-Miamians (mainly the ones who've never been here) sometimes see through it.

Outsiders see it as fun, sexy, crazy, but cool. One comment on a video of a beach beauty pageant down here even echos that sentiment: "Miami Must Be Heaven". And, when it's sunny and 80 degrees in February, it's hard to disagree.

Needless to say, weather should be a major selling point to LeBron and Bosh, who've played in Cleveland and Toronto for their entire careers. But theres a more important basketball related reason why LeBron and Bosh should come to Miami.

Miami Gives Them There Best Shot At A Championship.

Regardless of how this all shakes out in the next month, the Lakers will still be the hands-down favorites to win an NBA title.

They have plenty of size inside with Artest, Gasol, and Bynum with Odom coming off the bench.

Oh, and they still have Kobe.

Also, the West isn't as tough as it used to be.

San Antonio, Dallas, and Phoenix aren't getting any younger. Phoenix and Dallas might be losing key cogs of their team, and after firing GM Kevin Pritchard, Portland is a mess.

Oklahoma City still needs a bit more time before they can become a real contender.

Unless Dallas retains Dirk and pulls off a miracle sign-and-trade for Wade or LeBron (highly doubtful), the Lakers have the easiest route back to the Finals.

In the East, Orlando will be back (possibly with the additions of Chris Paul and Carlos Boozer) and, assuming Pierce re-signs, the Celtics will be right there with them.

Then there's the Heat and Bulls; the two biggest question marks as of today.

If LeBron and Bosh go to the Bulls; Boozer/Stoudemire/David Lee and Raymond Felton go to the Heat, the Eastern Conference would become infinitely tougher.

In this case, whoever comes out of the East will have to play a much more rested Lakers team since they wouldn't have to deal with as many tough teams.

That's where Miami comes into play.

LeBron, Bosh, and Wade simply need each other to win.

With those three together, veterans will sign on for a year for a shot at the ring.  Role players such as Raja Bell and Udonis Haslem will take less money for a chance at the ring. Because of this, I'm not as concerned with the depth of this three-headed monster of a team as everyone else seems to be.

What does concern me is the thought of a Lakers dynasty, and not having Bosh, LeBron, and Wade together will guarantee one.

Miami is the only team able to afford all three.  In the end, no matter what the pitch, money talks.

So come to Miami guys.  Let's keep a dynasty away from the Pacific and start one on the Atlantic.
