FIFA World Cup 2010: In Paraguay vs. Spain, the Spanish Will Be the Victors

Kelsey GivensJul 1, 2010

The 2010 World Cup quarterfinals are this Friday and Saturday. One of the most anticipated games of the weekend is Paraguay vs. Spain.

Both of these teams have proven that they deserve to be in the quarterfinals, but only one can win the match. Which team will it be?

So far Paraguay has won one game and tied three others, including the last one against Japan. Spain, on the other hand, has won three games and lost one.

Along with more wins, Spain has also scored more points than Paraguay so far in this World Cup.

After the last round of games, Spain has a total of five points over Paraguay’s total of three points.

By just looking at the standings, it would seem that Spain would be able to win this game quickly with no problem. While Spain will most likely be the victor of this match, it will be no easy walk in the park for them.

Even though Paraguay has only won one game and has scored only a few points, they are still fierce competition for Spain.

With talented players like Antolin Alcaraz, Nelson Valdez and Justo Villar, Paraguay will give Spain some trouble, especially if Spain doesn’t bring their “A” game to the match on Saturday.

Thanks to goalie Villar and defender Alcaraz, Spain may have a bit of trouble scoring against Paraguay.

However, even with the trouble Paraguay may give Spain, Spain has the better odds of winning this match.

Unlike Paraguay, Spain has several top players that have proven they can bring in points for their team, especially when it counts.

Spain’s top scorer so far in the World Cup is David Villa. He has scored four of Spain’s five goals in the World Cup.

In addition to players who can rack up the points for their team, Spain has a decent goalie that can further prevent Paraguay from scoring many points during the match on Saturday.

Iker Casillas, has stopped many shots on goal so far in this World Cup. He could continue this pattern and prevent Paraguay from scoring any goals at all on Saturday.

With Spain’s top players and their record so far, Spain should come out as the victor of their match with Paraguay this weekend.
