Transfer Roundup: Manchester City Sign £30 million David Silva
The big story of today is that Manchester City have confirmed the capture of Valencia winger David Silva. A transfer free was not announced but it is likely the club paid £30 million to Valencia to secure the services of their biggest signing of the Summer to date.
Another deal which has already gone through sees Argentinian striker Mauro Boselli join Birmingham City for an undisclosed fee. He has two caps for his country and has scored 32 goals in 57 appearances for Estudiantes.
The club have already splashed out £6 million on giant Valencia centre forward and Birmingham City are believed to have tabled a bid for Bobby Zamora. It is highly unlikely that Fulham would sanction the sale of the in form striker, particularly to a rival club.

The French media are reporting that Newcastle United have bid £4.9 million for Paris St Germain forward Mevlut Erding. Although I doubt whether the club actually have sufficient resources for deals of this magnitude.
Landon Donovan's future is the subject of media speculation with newspapers suggesting that a return to the Premiership is on the cards and that Everton could face some competition for his signature.

Manchester City were believed to be interested in Arteta but might have moved their sights elsewhere, with midfielder Yaya Toure on the verge of signing for Man City from Barcelona.
Pienaar only has a year to run on his contract and Everton might be forced to cash in on the South Africa midfielder now if they are unable to negotiate a new contract. Pienaar was Everton's player of the season last year and Arsene Wenger is a known admirer.
Chelsea's decision not to retain the services of Joe Cole has even John terry baffled but their are a number of clubs looking to snap up the winger on a free transfer. If Cole decides to stay in England he is likely to face a straight choice between London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham.
His agent claims that a number of European clubs are interested in Cole and his free agent status would make him an attractive option for cash strapped Italian sides such as Juventus, Roma and AC Milan.
Celtic are in negotiations with Sol Campbell who is also a free agent having been deemed surplus to requirements by Arsenal. Another player interesting the Scottish club is recently relegated Hull City's influential midfielder Jimmy Bullard.
Meanwhile Milan Jovanovic has confirmed his move from Standard Liege to Liverpool will go ahead. The striker had been rumoured to be on the verge of pulling out of the deal after Rafael Benitez's departure.
