FIFA World Cup 2010: France's Legion of Dishonor

"French football is in a catastrophic situation," that is how Christian Teinturier the vice president of FFF called it and rightly so. It all began when Anelka made obscene comments to Domenech at half time during the match between France and Mexico. Since then, there is been an unrest in the French camp.

Anelka was sent back home by the FFF for his conduct. The French team lead by the the captain Evra with no player in exception, refused to train yesterday showing their displeasure against the decision taken by the FFF to throw out Anelka from the squad. 

Well, the French fans including myself, are so devastated with the current situation. It's been amazing to see where the French team are now since winning the World Cup in the home soil in 1999 and also the Euro '00 in Netherlands. The present team is just the shadows of the '98 world champions.

People are blaming Raymond Domenech for the consistent poor performance of the French Team. No surprise that everbody in France hates Domenech. He has done nothing since reaching the World Cup finals four years ago and even that is because he had  players like Zidane, Thuram, Henry, Meke and Viera. All he has done is putting theles Blues in the brink. It is an Irish curse and the french would have been happy had their team not reached the world cup  than putting such a dismissal performance in the World Cup.

The main reason for this catastrophic is not Domenech, it is the FFF. After seeing a such a poor performance in Euro 2008 he should have been expelled straight away and they failed to do so and it is hurting them.

During the late 90s, the whole world was hailing the French Youth Academy, which produced some of the world's great footballers at that time. But since the birth of the millennium, the production has dried up and they have failed to go beyond quarter finals since with the exception of 2006 World Cup when they reached the World Cup finals. One of the main reason for this is the weak French football body.

FFF has not taken any steps to improve the French league and their youth system. No French league team has managed to win the champions league in many many years that shows you how poor the league is.

You need to have quality league to generate world champions and the French dont have it. The best French players are all playing abroad in big leagues like EPL, La liga and Seria A. They go back to French league when they are past their peak and about to retire. This shows how poor the French league is.

Coming back to the World Cup, the French fans would be happy to see their team back home than progressing to the next round. They want  to end this catastrophe and end it fast. The first thing they want to see isDomenech out and that will end when the French is out of the World cup. 

The incoming manager Laurent Blanc, a '98 world champion has tough job ahead. He needs to refurnish the les blues. And it must not end their there must be a complete revamp of the FFF so that the french football could see its golden days again soon.  

"Allez les blue," yeah they are going home.
