Arsenal start off with a tricky away fixture at Anfield; hope Arshavin knows this! Next up is a home game against new boys Blackpool, followed by yet another toughie away at Blackburn. So it’s two ‘Pools’ & two ‘Blacks’ first up!
September sees Arsenal face Bolton & West Brom at the Emirates, whilst we square up against Sunderland away at the ‘Stadium of Lights’. A lightweight month one can presume.
Now October is when the league table starts getting some shape & by the end of it, we have an idea of the teams who’re gonna fight till the very end. We start off the month with the biggest game thus far, away at Chelsea. If that’s not enough, We also face Manchester ‘moneybags’ City away at the Eastlands. Home games against Birmingham & West Ham are the only respites. Here’s hoping this time we’re able to take points against the teams in different hues of ‘blue’!
November starts with a face-off against an old nemesis, Newcastle United. I admit it’s nice to have them back, a club of their stature deserve no less. Away games at Wolves, Everton & Aston Villa make it an important month in the larger scheme of things. And guess what, Tottenham are the other home game we have for the month – mouthwatering stuff indeed.
Skeptics may point out consecutive games against the Toffees, Spuds & the Villians as another FA conspiracy, but lets not get into that just yet.
December is another choked month with home fixtures against Fulham, Stoke & hold your breath, Chelsea again! Away games include Wigan & oh well.. one certain Manchester United. Now this really makes things interesting from an Arsenal point of view.
Mid-way through the season, we’d have faced Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea & Man Utd, all away at their own backyard. Not just that, we’d have also faced the reigning champion’s in the reverse fixture as well. It can turn out to be a blessing in disguise from where I see things. If we can keep it steady over the first part of the season, it’s gonna be a huge fillip for our chances to finally bag some silverware after a 5 year hiatus.
I won’t bore you with the remaining fixtures one-by-one, we can always look into them at a later time. The important one’s are – Shitty (H, 4th Jan), Spuds (A, 26th Feb), Loserpool (H, 16th April), Manure (H, 30th April) & finally Fulham, away, on the 22nd May – a date we’ll hopefully be crowned the new Premier League Champions! Amen..
