2010 World Cup Live Results, Scores: Ghana Vs. Australia Live Blog
Good morning everyone. I'm Cameron Daniels and I will be live blogging the Ghana vs. Australia game today. This match should be an exciting one, as both teams will look to pick up momentum in the group stage.
Group D has turned out to be one of the most interesting groups after the first week of the Cup, in my opinion.
Ghana can take first place in the group with a win or draw today, and Australia will earn its first points in group play if they can avoid a loss.

This match will be the most important game in Group D.
FINAL: 1-1 draw. Ghana is now in first place in Group D with four points, and Australia is still in fourth place. Australia earned it's first point in group play with the draw today.
89': Jonathan just missed a decent header attempt. He was right next to the goal and barely missed it!
88': Kingson has done a great job of goalkeeping as well. He hasn't had to do as much as Schwarzer, but he's had an outstanding match today.
85': Rukavytsya just came in for Wilkshire.
79': Jonathan just fouled Chipperfield and received a yellow card.
76': It's "go time" for the Socceroos, they have 15 minutes to try to take the lead. Just like in the first half, they haven't had many shot attempts; but they have to keep attacking. It's mandatory.
72': Wow! Australia had a chance to take the lead. Kingson made two critical saves. That was excellent goalkeeping.
70': People give a lot of credit to Gyan, but I think Boateng holds this team together. He plays with confidence and his teammates feed off it. He might be the most important player on Ghana's side.
68': I have to admit, Chipperfield is the perfect name for a soccer player. That's the best name I've heard out of any in the World Cup.
66': Breschiano was just subbed out. Chipperfield was just subbed in, he got a shot attempt immediately.
59': Neill just denied Gyan of a breakaway opportunity.
57': Tagoe was just substituted for Owusu-Abeyie on the Ghana side.
55': It seems like Ghana has had the ball the entire second half, they're doing a much better job at maintaining possession.
53': Schwarzer just intercepted a cross attempt, he's been all over the place and he could use some help from his back line.
50': Australia had a counter attack going, but it resulted in another shot attempt by Asamoah. He's not shy about shooting.
47': Australia has to play disciplined this half. A tiny mistake could coast them. Asamoah just had a good look from deep, it was wide right, but I have a feeling he'll keep shooting.
9:55 CT: The first half was a physical one. Australia committed eight fouls and Ghana had nine. I like games that are physical, it sets the tone for the match,
Both teams know what is at stake, and they're both fighting hard. I just hope the refs continue to let the guys play.
9:49 CT: Ghana took 10 shots in the first half, while Australia was held to just two attempts. The time of possession is split at 50 percent each.
9:46 CT: Halftime score is 1-1. I'll provide stats from the first half momentarily. It's hard to tell who is the better team in the match, but Ghana has all the momentum as of now.
9:45 CT: Schwarzer just made an incredible save on a shot attempt. He's been very active in the first half of the match.
9:40 CT: 40 minutes in and it's still tied at 1-1. Ghana has gotten several looks from inside the box, but Australia is playing great defense with 10 men.
9:38 CT: Ghana needs to push the ball up to Australia's back line. Ghana can exploit Australia if the can penetrate its defense.
9:35 CT: Australia is playing a bit more reserved, they began attacking but now they're playing conservatively. It's too early to tell which style will be more effective.
9:30 CT: It's been an exciting game already, in the first half hour of play both teams have scored.
Australia is a man down after Kewell received a red card. The Socceroos have to keep their poise and play as a unit.
9:25 CT: Gyan is now taking a penalty kick from a hand ball, and he just scored the equalizer! We're tied at 1-1 now in the 26th minute.
9:23 CT: So far, Australia looks good. It looks like they have completely forgotten about the loss to Germany and they have been the more aggressive team.
9:17 CT: Ghana has to capitalize now, they are starting to put together solid possessions. They just need to keep attacking.
9:10 CT: We are now 11 minutes into the match, and Australia has taken the early lead. Brett Holman just put the Socceroos up 1-0 off a rebound on a free kick! Great goal.
9:08 CT: Australia began the game with a 4-5-1 formation, and Ghana came out with a 4-2-3-1 look.
9:05 CT: Here's an interesting fact. Ghana, the youngest team in the World Cup, has 15 players who are 24 years old or younger. Will the young guys prevail, or will the vets from Australia show them how its done? Let's see what unfolds.
9:00 CT: Here we go, the game is underway! Looks like another beautiful day in South Africa.
