Lakers vs. Celtics Game 7: What a Joke
I am disgusted. This is unbelievable.
I have never seen a basketball game, a Game Seven, so one-sided in calls. This has to be a joke. The NBA is a joke.
I know everyone is going to say that I'm a "homer" and that I'm a "sore loser." Well, think what you want. This game was disgusting, a disgrace to sports.
It is almost impossible to win a game when you miss 56 shots, while shooting a whopping 32 percent. The Lakers offense was terrible tonight, but they got a little extra help from the officials.
The officials gave the Lakers 37 free-throw attempts while Boston got 20 fewer with only 17. That should definitely raise a lot of eyebrows. It is a disgrace.
The one play that I feel is a perfect example of how this game went: Late in the fourth quarter, Pau Gasol went up for a shot, and clearly came back down, and shot it again. From my understanding, that is travelling. That's a turnover, should have been Celtics' ball.
It was 74-70 at the time, but then the call wasn't made, so then it became a six-point lead.
Boston Celtics' coach, Doc Rivers, called a timeout after that happened, and the officials had ample amount of time to look at it because there was less than two minutes left. That right there is a joke. You do not know how much that aggravates me and makes me feel sick.
Allow me to point out another interesting stat: From my understanding, the Lakers shot 20 free-throws in the fourth quarter. That is ridiculous. Purely and utterly disturbing. Boston only had 17 attempts the whole game. Something is wrong there.
Speaking of the fourth quarter, is it just me, but did the officials change quite a bit? They allowed the players to play "free" and practically "maul" each other earlier in the game. But then, all of a sudden, they started calling "ticky-tack" calls. The officials were so inconsistent. It was terrible.
I am telling you guys: This game was a joke!
Before the fourth quarter, I was loving this game. The officials allowed the players to play like it was the '80s with Bird and Magic out there. But then, they went back to their old ways with a foul on almost every possession.
I will never forget this game. The Celtics outplayed the Lakers. They shot 40 percent from the field and 88 percent at the free-throw line while LA shot 32 percent and 67 percent, respectively.
I am so disgusted and upset with how this game unfolded.
On a side note, the commentators on ESPN/ABC are terrible. They are so biased towards Kobe Bryant and the Lakers.
They always get excited when Kobe or the Lakers do something, but never for the Celtics. When the Lakers start to fall behind, they get awfully quiet and act like they are depressed. But when LA is winning or on a run, they are pumped. I cannot stand it.
This league needs to change because it's a shame that such a great sport is dictated by some old guys officiating the game.
Early in the series, the infamous Tim Donaghy predicted how one game was going to go after Bryant complained about calls in the previous game. He said that there would be a lot of illegal moving screens called, and he was right. The following game went exactly how he predicted it.
The National Basketball Association is a joke. This league needs to change. The calls are terrible. This makes me sick.
Looking at the fading "Big Three" and Doc Rivers, this is such a sad way to go out, dictated by the league and their awful officials.
