FIFA World Cup 2010 Can Only Get Better and Better

Hasmat MustunJun 17, 2010

Diego Forlan is the leading goalscorer of the World Cup 2010 with two goals. That says it all—or did we expect too much from the World Cup?

The expectations that have built for a long time by the media means we are all feeling a little bit annoyed that the World Cup has been flat. But fear not...so far it's been a case of defence ruling over attack. North Korea played with passion and determination; even though they lost, they should be proud of their performance.

We have had a lot of draws and a couple of goalless ones too. However, these have been the first games and nobody wants to lose the first game. Now it seems as though teams are increasing the tempo and more attacking display is on the rise. Uruguay proved it last night with a 3-0 victory over South Africa. Diego Forlan was fantastic and deserves the praise he is receiving at the moment.

After a few shocking results, I can only see the big nations do the business from now on, in which attack will prevail over defence and we will all be witnessing a flurry of spectacular goals.

Argentina are about to kick off and Maradona's men are truly capable of turning on the style and really set this tournament alight with a blistering performance.

France have the chance to make peace with their fans following a lacklustre performance in their opening game. They face a Mexican team who has been told to attack, attack, and attack. Therefore we can only expect a very open game tonight, but still no clear winner!

And as for the African teams...well following Nigeria's game against Argentina, I feel as though they could beat Greece comfortably and get Africa dancing again following a disappointing result for South Africa.

Blow loudly and proudly into those vuvuzelas as World Cup fever is on the rise!
