2010 FIFA World Cup Talent Scout: Nigeria's Vincent Enyeama

Daniel GoochJun 12, 2010

On day two of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Group B kicked off with two wins. South Korea win 2-0 against Greece, and Argentina beat Nigeria 1-0. It could have been much worse for Nigeria if it wasn't for the great performance of their keeper Vincent Enyeama.

Players like Messi and Tevez were sprinting down the pitch continually on the attack. The Nigerian number one was on top form with a number of outstanding saves from some of the best players in the world.

There was one attempt on goal that passed him into the back of the net, but it was mainly the fault of the Nigerian defense no marking players.

With the world watching, there is going to be a lot of teams, probably from the Premier League, who will try and snap him up.

There were lots of attempts on goal by the South Americans, and with a different keeper, the score could have been much higher.

Enyeama was elected "man of the match," and deserved it.

Nigeria wont go that far in the tournament, but they won't be humiliated by the scorelines. If he can keep out shots from the likes of Messi and Tevez, it'll have a brilliant or lucky goal to get past him.

He managed to pull off saves from left, right and centre. He stopped saves from point blank range and from the edge of the penalty box.

The best save of the day was from Messi. He manages to turn round a Nigerian defender and took a shot from around 16 yards out. It squeezed through two defenders and spun towards the top left corner.

Enyeama put his body on the line and stretched as far as he could to his right. He got his fingers to the ball and tipped it round his post, before getting congratulated by a number of his fellow teammates.

There was a total of seven shots on target that Enyeama put his body behind, with an extra few that where going just wide of the post.

Vincent Enyeama is going to be a stand out keeper and one to watch at this summer's tournament. Don't be surprised if he ends up on the team sheet at a Premier League club.
