Hey, NCAA Football: Expand This!

Now that this expansion business seems to be in full swing, with every "big swinging dick" (Michael Lewis' quote, not mine) in college football stating their opinion on where everyone will go, we think it's time—as mere blabbermouths, who've got far too much time on our hands—to give our opinion.

It seems that the Big Ten, SEC, Pac-10, and ACC conferences want to form a bunch of conferences in an effort to establish themselves on the world stage. Heck, Pac-10 commissioner Larry Scott thinks that the college football game will expand to Asia.

Was Scott drunk when he came up with that thought?

"Heeeey guysss, I've got an amazing thought, apart from that I maaaay have had a little too much Jack Daniels. Asia's the place to go—and everyone is going to love college football over there. It's going to be the next big thing."

The truth is, no one knows what's going to happen. Texas is courting, or being courted by, just about everybody.

Then's there's Notre Dame, still delighted with their billion-dollar NBC deal. 

They've recently reduced their competitive position by playing weaker schools instead of stronger ones. (Michigan's historically been a stronger one, so we'll leave the Wolverines on the "good side" of the fence.)

If Brian Kelly strings together some wins, though, Notre Dame will be a national power without having to join a conference.

If Texas and Notre Dame don't migrate to the Big XII or the Big Ten, people can start discussing the crappy end of the Big XII conference (i.e. everyone in the Big XII North apart from Nebraska, who will probably decide to stay in the Big XII rather than move to the Big Ten—we'd know by now, right?).

But who really cares?
