Route 66 NHRA Nationals Results from Chicago

The NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series was in Chicago this weekend at Route 66 Raceway for the Route 66 Nationals. After running rounds on Sunday, rain moved in and delayed the finish until late on Sunday night at Chicago.

Larry Dixon scored his fifth win in 2010 in the Al-Anabi Racing Top Fuel Dragster on Sunday night winning at Chicago and defeating rival Tony Schumacher in the US Army dragster in the final round. Dixon ran a 3.773 to a losing 3.823. Larry Dixon has the Top Fuel points lead going into Englishtown.

Matt Hagan ended Robert Hights run at four wins in a row, defeating Hight in the final round. Hagan defeated Ashley Force Hood in the semi-finals setting a new national record at 4.022 and he was able to back that up in the finals against Hight running a 4.035 while Hight ran a losing 4.069. Hight continues to lead the points headed to Englishtown.

Mike Edwards came into Chicago and scored his eight Pro Stock No. 1 qualifier of 2010 and scored his sixth win on Sunday night defeating the Summit car of Jason Line. Edwards and Line has almost the same reaction times but Edwards won with a 6.594 to Line's 6.599. Mike Edwards has a large points lead and looks to be the car to beat in Englishtown.

LE Tonglet got his first career win in Pro Stock Motorcycle defeating Steve Johnson as Tonglet ran a 6.935 to 6.966. The 20-year-old driver got the win and had a low reaction time on the start.

The 42nd Annual NHRA Supernationals is next weekend at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ.
