New York Mets' Daniel Murphy Just Can't Catch a Break
It seems like no matter what Daniel Murphy does, he just can’t catch a break in a New York Mets uniform. Even when he trying to learn how to play another position in order to improve his chances of making it back to the majors, something goes wrong.
Murphy is out for the season
Murphy suffered a “high-grade” tear of the MCL in his right knee, the Mets announced yesterday. Murphy was injured while attempting to turn a double-play. No surgery is required, but he is expected to be out four to six months, effectively ending his season.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Murphy was learning how to play second base in hopes of becoming a super utility player for the Mets. He played first base last year, and he has played third and left field in the past. All positions he didn’t field well, I might add.
Regardless, Murphy just needs a change of scenery. It’s just not going to work as a member of the Mets’ organization.
Murphy needs to figure out a way to get out of New York. He is a classic change of scenery player. His situation is similar to that of Gregg Jefferies back in the day—minus the whining, crying, and Crayons.
Now I am not saying Murphy is going to hit .342 like Jefferies did for the St. Louis Cardinals back in 1993, but he could be a serviceable first baseman if given the chance.
There is no reason to think that he couldn’t hit .285-.290 for a second division team like the Pirates or Indians.
