Auburn Football 2010: A Look at Early Ranking Predictions

Phil Steele has released his preseason top 25 and it is full of surprises. Oklahoma is ranked in the top spot. This is not such a long shot. The Sooners have a good football team returning this year

It looks as if the Auburn Tigers will start the season ranked by most of the preseason prognosticators. Some feel this is an indicator of the actual preseason poll rankings. Only time will tell if this is true this year.

For SEC fans there are a few surprises as well. Here is where the SEC teams are projected in the top 25.

15. Auburn

17. Arkansas

19. Georgia

21. South Carolina

While some will criticize this selection, it certainly appears to be credible and even possible. Phil Steele has a reputation for being one of the better football prognosticators.

If Mr. Steele is right this is how the SEC would stack up for 2010.

The interesting part of these early season predictions is; the SEC has six teams in the top 25 in each one. With Six teams in the top 25 it would seem prognosticators are expecting the SEC to be a very close, competitive conference in both divisions this year.
