Barcelona Keen To Close Deal on David Villa and Cesc Fabregas
After having been crowned champions of Spain, Barcelona now turn their focus to preparing a team for next season.
With so many young talented players already at the club, Pep Guardiola and his management are looking to strengthen it even further.
David Villa and Cesc Febaregas are both linked with a move to Catalonia. While the deal with Villa is close to an agreement, Cesc is still be persuaded by his current club Arsenal.
Valencia, who have been trying to keep the striker for some time, will have to give up their efforts and look to bank on the player due to their financial problems.
While on the other hand, Arsenal are keen to securing Fabregas for at least another season.
David Villa
The 28-year-old Spanish international is one of the most chased-after strikers in Europe.
With amazing talent and ability his been faithful to Valencia since 2005, but with ambition to move to a bigger club and so much interest from Europe's top clubs, Villa seems to be heading for Barcelona.
"Negotiations are progressing well especially in the case of Villa," Yuste (Barcelona Vice president) told Catalonian radio station Ona FM.
Cesc Fabregas
Another Spanish international, and a former Barca youth player, Cesc has been the key to Arsenal's campaign in recent years.
His role as an attacking midfielder coupled with the responsibility as captain for the Gunners has made him a remarkable player.
In the last two seasons, he's matured into one of the best that Arsenal has to offer, a regular in the Spanish National setup and will look to be fit and ready to represent once again in South Africa.
Barcelona have long been keen to persuade Cesc for a return to the Nou Camp, but Wenger and his management are hard at work trying to secure Fabregas and hope he will stay at the Emirates.
Barcelona's vice president had this to say: "The situation with Cesc is different because even if you have the will of the player it is very important to talk to his club and, if you can, find an agreement."
"But what makes it easier is that both players (Villa and Cesc) want to come to Barca."
Possible Swap-Deal
With Yaya Toure unhappy with his situation at Barcelona, and looking for an exit due to his limited game time, Arsenal could be the answer to his problems.
With Barcelona chasing Cesc, Barca could look to swap Yaya and pay the difference.
A Force to Reckon With
Barcelona already pose a significant threat for European dominance for the next couple years with great talent in Messi, Xavi, Ibra, Pedro, and company.
Looking to bring in more players with ambition and hunger could emphasize their strength and make them one of the strongest most balanced teams in the world.
A team that plays the game as it should be played, attractive attacking football.
Both Villa and Fabregas would fit in well within the structure of the team, Fabregas played in the youth team and also plays a similar brand of football at Arsenal. While Villa played alongside most of the Barcelona players in the Spanish squad.
