Lebron and Wade Together? Let's End This Stupidity

SY RobersonMay 17, 2010

If you're anything like me, you've got to be fed up with all of the constant speculation of Lebron's future plans, mainly fueled by his "team" and the media.

Yes, he has tried unsuccessfully for years to take a team of misfits and castoffs to the promised land with less than satisfactory results. Yes, his so-called loyalty has been questioned when he only owes the fulfillment of his contract's requirements and nothing else. And yes, we've heard every possible rumor linking him to another superstar on his or their team.

Let's end the bull right now.

In this league, we have alpha dogs. Only a few nowadays, but they still exist. I like to refer to them as the batman of their team. Every Batman needs his Robin and Alfred, along with other necessary pieces in order to be successful in the team game.

We can all agree on at least five Batmen in this league: James, Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Bosh. You may find others, but let's start where we can all agree.

Understand this, no Batman, under 30 is willing to be another's Robin. Period. Forget what they all say regarding the team game and all of the awards that go along with it. Under 30, it's all about them. Look at the trouble Kobe had playing Robin to Batman Shaq.

I've got to respect Chris Bosh coming out and stating his refusal to go elsewhere as a piece to complement another franchise's star player. Along with that, I must give the same allowances to Phoenix Suns' power forward Amare Stoudemire for his similar selfish statement.

Although Bosh and Stoudemire have a little more Robin in them than they're willing to admit, I can't possibly begin to imagine any of the top four in the league leaning towards that type of individual sacrifice this early in their career.

Therefore, the talk of James and Wade, James and Bryant, or any of those top guys teaming up is the most ridiculous basketball conversation I've ever heard. Certain guys must dominate the ball to be as effective as they are expected. Wade, Bryant nor James are not anywhere near the point of sacrificing their game for the "team", not yet.

What we've witnessed in Boston, with Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen is the culmination of years of disappointments, letdowns, blame, and team failure.  They are only capable of accomplishing what they have as a unit because of their individual success and failure.

We only have at least six more weeks of speculation left. In the meantime, let's end all of the stupidity that links our top four together. Let's narrow down some of the bull for our own sake.

If LeBron leaves Cleveland, it will not be for Miami to team with Wade or vice versa.  Anyone stating this has no right voicing their opinion in basketball. If LeBron leaves, hopefully it'll be for Chicago, but if not, then New York. But who am I to say for sure?

We've all got to wait and see.
