Why Cesc Fabregas Should Stay at Arsenal

Linus NwekeMay 16, 2010

Cesc Fabregas's future has been under scrutiny in recent weeks after the disastrous last six weeks of the Gunners' season. Fabregas is a great player and will achieve his dreams no matter what he decides to do with his future.

In all honesty, it is very easy for any player with such caliber to want to join a historic club such as Barcelona. His desire to want to win is unquenchable and is obvious in the way he plays. He loves Arsenal with all his heart, but what irks at him is the lack of trophies at the club.

If Fabregas were to give Arsene Wenger and Arsenal a chance to get to the heights of winning they fully deserve with the way they play football and conduct business, then surely he would become one of the greats at Arsenal and also one of the best captains the clubs has ever seen.

With time, this group of Arsenal players will mature and grow into their bodies, becoming stronger and up for the physical challenges of the Premier League. Plus, he could become the first Arsenal captain to lift the Champions League trophy. Do not be surprised if that happens at Wembley next season.

One more reason Fabregas should stay at Arsenal stems from the fact that the Arsenal fans adore him as well as his teammates. He certainly can not give up on them at this stage in his career, since he is only 23 and has so many years ahead of him.

It is inevitable that Arsenal will start winning trophies again, because of how close they were this year given the fact that RVP was out for five months.

On top of that, who knows what might have been if Fabregas himself had not missed that last six weeks of the campaign. It is probably safe to say that not only would Arsenal have beaten Tottenham, but they would have beaten Blackburn and Wigan putting Chelsea and Manchester United under more pressure in the process.

Fabregas will be remembered as the great player who saved Arsenal from collapse and could even eclipse Thierry Henry in terms of historic significance at the club, but only if he decides to stay at Arsenal and put his personal ambitions to join Barcelona on hold until he has made history at Arsenal.

Arsenal fans will always remember him for years to come, and not only that he has a chance to become a legend at two clubs something not too many players can claim over the course of their careers.
