Party In South Beach: Can LeBron James and Dwayne Wade Team Up In Miami?
It's been nearly 12-plus hours since the LeBron James Free Agency Watch began.
Indeed, on the heels of the Cleveland Cavaliers' shocking ouster from the NBA playoffs by the Boston Celtics, speculation has officially begun as to all the possible destinations for King James.
Most people close to James believe the Chicago Bulls will be his next team, especially if they bring John Calipari in as head coach.
And we all know about the New York Knicks' lust for James. Having already customized a No. 6 jersey with his name on it, the Knicks have been preparing this moment for quite some time.
The New Jersey (soon to be Brooklyn) Nets have Jay-Z as their chief James recruiter, and with the Nets possessing a top five pick in this year's draft, the possibility of signing another star to aid James is tantalizing.
The Los Angeles Clippers are rumored as a suitor as well, with tons of cap space available.
And we also have to add the Cavaliers on this list.
However, what about the Miami Heat? Can we see a King James/D-Wade combination in South Beach?
Coach Pat Riley has said he would love to bring in James alongside Wade, who is also a free agent. Maybe so, but Miami has the leverage to resign Wade, and bring in a superstar like James.
Most thought the other star would be Carlos Boozer, or an Amare Stoudemire. But, most feel this could be the best situation for James, especially ESPN analyst Skip Bayless.
Known as the biggest talk of James' performances daily, Bayless believes James needs Wade. Deep down, it makes too much sense, and the two would be a scary combination.
Skip believes Lebron is best suited as " Robin", the very talented player who needs to be accompanied by a star. He feels that Lebron needs a man who can become clutch in the playoffs, such as Dwayne Wade, who would play the " Batman" role as the focus of the team.
In fact, both of them are facing similar situations. Both have hit tough points in their careers.
James' Cavs exited the playoffs on a disappointing note, failing to make the Finals for the past three seasons.
Combine the trade of Antwan Jamison, the acquisition of Shaq, and the best record in the regular season, and Cleveland looked to be heading back to the Finals.
It was a little different situation for Wade, but it was still a negative result.
After an early exit out of the first round of the playoffs, Wade said on his Twitter page this would be the last time he lost in the first round in a while.
If a James-Wade combo goes down, Michael Beasley would become a great third option, and maybe flourish after falling out with the front office this season.
Many believe James needs to begin a new chapter in his career. Miami doesn't seem to be a likely destination, but even if it is, James and Wade will need another solid piece to be added.
Still, just the thought of the two superstars on the same team it brings fear into the league.
A new version of Jordan-Pippen in Miami could lead the Heat to another title, and the first for King James in his already storied career.
