Best Replacements for Urban Meyer
I wrote this last time he tried to jump ship. That was less than a year ago, Joe Pa has coached for 50 years at Penn State and Urban has left twice in 1 year. Lets see if it still holds true. But these are the candidates who would do the program justice in my opinion. Enjoy! These are the same names in the same order as last year. Last year however Urban returned, I can only wish that was still an option.
# 10 Bobby Bowden

I'm not being completely serious about this one because I dont really want him coaching the Gators but wouldnt it be fun to roll all over FSU next year with Bobby Bowden as the coach? Yes, it would
# 9 Jon Gruden

He probably isnt such a great option but he is a strong, motivational coach with a lot of heart. A good emotional replacement. Said no to the Canes, and spiting the Canes is fun!
# 8 Steve Spurrier

In Theory, his high-flying offensive strategy would be nice. He's getting old though and I dont think he is leaving SC until he retires. He knows Gainesville and could coach up the Gators nicely.
# 7 Gary Patterson

Fun, offensive minded coach who is not where he will finish his career. BCS crasher or not, this guy wants a chance to compete every year and that is what Florida could give him
#6 Bobby Petrino

Petrino is good, not great. Switching from SEC team to SEC team isnt so hard and he knows the system well. He is an good recruiter but isnt a long term answer
# 5 Dan Mullen

Mullen was a superstar OC for the Gators and got us two National Championships with Coach Meyer. He left this year for Mississippi State and had a good year for the Bulldogs. He knows our system very well but recruiting might be an issue. Probably the #1 option this time around... we shall see
# 4 Bob Stoops

I cant imagine Stoops leaving Oklahoma but he is a great coach who might be looking for a fresh place to coach. Oklahoma very possibly is on the downhill slope while the Gators are getting better if thats possible :) He is a former UF DC and his Gator Ties might give him the edge over some of the others
# 3 Kyle Whittingham

He is Urban's friend and a great coach who runs virtually the same offensive scheme that the Gators use. The problem with that is John Brantley isnt a spread style QB. He is a Drop back and Pass kind of guy. A Utah coach worked last time around, Who's up for seconds?
#2 Jim Harbaugh

Harbaugh is a bright new face who brings a lot to the Gators. he wouldve been #1 but for Gator Ties. He has led Stanford to national recognition and coached Toby Gerhart (and Andrew Luck) to the top. He is motivational and very talented. He is slightly defensive minded which fits in with the powerful defense the Gators are set to have.
#1 Charlie Strong

The Gators former DC is the clear choice for #1. He is was the Gators DC up until about a month ago when he fled to Louisville to get his first Head Coaching job. He is a great coach and was with the Gators for quite some time and was very successful. He hasnt signed an official contract at Louisville and could pull a Billy Donovan like comeback and be our head coach. If Urban had let us know sooner, Charlie would have been at worst the Interim HC instead of Steve Addazio who isnt the answer at all. Charlie Strong is rotting in his Louisville Grave right now and i think coming back is a good choice
Of Course Urban would be nice

He is the best possible choice for the Gators. I dont want him hurting himself or putting his life in risk however. If he does stick to his word and is coaching the Gators by next season the great but if not, I think Jeremy Foley would do good to look at this list and give it some thought. Go Gators!!!
