Euro 2008: Can the "Dutch" Do It?

After years of choking can the Dutch beat all odds and win the European Championship?

Some of the world's biggest stars will once again take to the pitch tomorrow evening in a bid to beat the Russians for a spot in the semis.

After the show the Russians displayed agaisnt Sweden, it wont be an easy task for the men in orange. Thus far, with a total in-form squad with an attacking approach and glamorous finishing, it just could be the year for the Dutch.

Taking a look at the squad from back to front, there is balance both in terms of experience, talent, and a desire to go all the way.

Van Basten has excellent defenders that have big-match temperament—the likes of Van Bronchorst and Boulorous are able to hold their own in such games.

Van Basten is spoiled with choices of some of the best attacking and defensive midfielders, Arjen Robben and Snjider are just two names that comes to mind.

Upfront, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Dirk Kuyt, Hunterlaar, and Robin van Persie are all lethal and have the ability, skill, and talent to destroy any defense—the evidence is in their two group matches against Italy and France.

So what does Russia offer that will possibly make some of the Holland fans nervous?  Well for one thing...Guus Hiddink. If anyone came to the party it was the coach, and maybe just maybe the Russians will be drinking vodka after causing the biggest upsets to a team that has shown everything.

Twenty years ago, Van Basten and his mates won the championship...now will he lead his nation to their second European triumph or will they sink to the "Not so might Russians."
