Goals Galore At Villa Park

 
It looks like Manchester United has recuperated from the '1-0 win' syndrome after their consecutive scintillating performances against Wigan and Aston Villa

But this time, the task was pretty daunting for the favorites.

United faced a Villa side with five home wins, and that of course includes the famous 2-0 demolition of Chelsea.

Sir Alex rested the stalwart Cristiano Ronaldo, keeping in mind their Champions League outing to Dynamo Kiev. Giggs and Nani played in the right and left wings respectively.

Their start was very shaky and they conceded the goal at the 16th minute when Gabriel Agbonlahor headed past Van der Saar from a ferocious cross by Ashley Young. Carlos Tevez then began to show some sparks with his legs as he was continuously breaking through the Villa defense but couldn't spawn a goal.

After missing scores of opportunities, United made their breakthrough when Nani capitalized on the dosy Villa defence to cross the ball low to Rooney, who simply tucked it past Scott Carson at the far end of the post. Tieing the game turned the momentum around, and suddenly it was United who was in the driving seat.

The mesmerizing artifices of Nani and Giggs down the flanks terrorized the opposition defence, while Anderson and Scholes were rather lacklustre in comparison. Nevertheless, another goal came just after five minutes when Rooney converted a throughball from Tevez and promptly slotted the ball home to make it 1-2.

Villa awaited more misery when, at the injury time of the first half, Gardner scored an own goal from Ferdinand's flick as a Villan tried to clear Nani's corner.

The second half was more vibrant for both sides; as both sides created chances and wasted them.

Rooney spurned the golden chance of notching his third carrer hat-trick when Carson saw red card upon fouling Tevez. The substitute goalie Taylor stunned the Reds as he pulled off a brilliant save to deny United another goal.

But Giggsy was honored to put the icing on the cake as he twisted and turned past three Villans to net his first goal of the season and United's fourth of the match.

As a matter of fact, his ball rubbed past the bodies of two defenders and the goalkeeper, but it amazingly ended up in the net.

So, United are breathing on the neck of the mighty Gunners who spectacularly beat Bolton 2-0 at home. With consecutive goal deluge, they have braced themselves to defend their title for the 10th time and today's game just showed the sign of things to come in United's way
