Cheez-It Bowl 2020: Odds, Daily Fantasy Tips for Oklahoma State vs. Miami

Jake RillDec 28, 2020

In recent years, Miami hasn't had much success in bowl games. The Hurricanes have lost nine of their past 10 bowl appearances (a stretch that dates back to 2008), with their lone victory during that run coming in the 2016 Russell Athletic Bowl.

Miami has had a solid 2020 season, and it will now look to end it with a bowl win. However, it will face some tough competition in Oklahoma State in the Cheez-It Bowl at Camping World Stadium in Orlando on Tuesday night.

The Hurricanes are 8-2, with their only losses coming against Clemson and North Carolina, two of the other top teams in the ACC. They ended the regular season with a 62-26 home loss to the Tar Heels, so they'll be looking to get back on track and finish the year well.

Daily Fantasy Tips

Miami QB D'Eriq King is a Must-Start Player

Over the weekend, King announced that he's going to return to Miami next season, rather than enter the 2021 NFL draft. That's good news for the Hurricanes. But first, he's likely to end 2020 on a big note with a strong performance against Oklahoma State.

King, who transferred from Houston prior to the season, has impressed during his first year at Miami, passing for 2,570 yards, 22 touchdowns and five interceptions while also rushing for 520 yards and four touchdowns. He accounted for multiple touchdowns in three of the Hurricanes' final four games of the regular season, and he's likely to keep that strong run going.

Playing in the offense-heavy Big 12, Oklahoma State is averaging 427.7 total yards allowed per game. And the Cowboys have been beatable both through the air and on the ground, so King could have a big showing in both regards.

King is the best quarterback in this matchup, so build your daily fantasy lineup around him.

Oklahoma State's Dezmon Jackson is a Strong Option at Running Back

The Cowboys lost their leading rusher when running back Chuba Hubbard opted out of the season after seven games. But Jackson has been an adequate replacement, and the redshirt junior has had some big showings for Oklahoma State.

On Nov. 28, Jackson ran for 235 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Texas Tech. He followed that up the next week by rushing for 118 yards and a touchdown in a loss to TCU. And overall, he has 526 yards on 93 carries this season.

Miami has struggled to stop the run this season, allowing 180.6 rushing yards per game. So, Jackson could be poised for a big showing on the ground, making him one of the most intriguing daily fantasy options for this game, especially at running back.

Dillon Stoner Could Be Intriguing Wide Receiver to Play at Lower Cost

Oklahoma State wide receiver Tylan Wallace is a semifinalist for the Biletnikoff Award, given to the top wide receiver in the country each season. And he could have a big game against Miami. However, he's going to be one of the pricier options in daily fantasy, given his numbers this season.

So, if you're looking for a wide receiver who won't use as much of your budget, Cowboys redshirt senior Dillon Stoner could be a good option. Especially considering he's coming off his best showing of the year.

In Oklahoma State's regular-season finale at Baylor, Stoner had eight receptions for 247 yards and three touchdowns, his only scores of the year. He could have another performance like that if Miami is successful in limiting Wallace's production and Oklahoma State needs a different source for offensive production.

Stoner could be a bit of a riskier play, as he had seven games with three or fewer receptions. But the reward would be worth it if he has another big game.
