Fantasy Football Week 11: Rankings, Stat Projections and Top Waiver-Wire Adds
It's the time of year in fantasy football leagues when the correct waiver-wire pickup can be the difference between making the playoff field and not. Everyone's stars are set, but the occasional fill-in starter due to injury or bye week can make or break a season.
If you can find them, grabbing players who don't just plug a hole but can be legitimate options for multiple weeks—if not the rest of the season—is ideal. Here's a mix of one-week wonders and consistent contributors you just might want to snag before they blow up again and your whole fantasy league wants them.
Kalen Ballage, RB, Chargers
1 of 5
After starting the season with the Miami Dolphins and then in a minimal role with the New York Jets, Ballage seems to have found a home in Los Angeles.
With Justin Jackson and Austin Ekeler out because of injuries, Ballage has carried the ball 33 times in the past two games and also has caught seven passes. He's scored only one touchdown during that span, but he's a potential flex if you're desperate for a weekly streaming option.
That changes quite a bit if either Jackson or Ekeler returns, but the former was recently put on short-term injured reserve, and the latter is expected to return in Week 12 at the earliest. That makes Ballage a potential option for at least another week.
Los Angeles gets a favorable matchup this week against the hapless Jets, and you can bet that Ballage has a little something saved up for his former team.
Stat Projection: Three catches, 85 total yards, one touchdown
Jameis Winston, QB, Saints
2 of 5
Winston never expected to play much this year behind Drew Brees, but with the future Hall of Famer going down with an injury Sunday night against the 49ers, Winston was called into action.
He completed six of 10 passes for 60 yards and was sacked twice, but he was able to manage the Saints offense and feed Alvin Kamara. If Brees is indeed out for New Orleans' matchup with Atlanta this week, Winston is an intriguing streaming option if you're in desperate need of one.
His turnover-prone ways have haunted him for most of his career, but on good days, he can be a fantasy gem, especially with Michael Thomas back to full strength and the aforementioned Kamara.
New Orleans will face Atlanta's abysmal pass defense, which ranks 31st in passing yards allowed this season, and was recently carved up by Denver's Drew Lock.
Stat Projection: 275 passing yards, three touchdowns
Wayne Gallman, RB, Giants
3 of 5
Gallman's stats don't jump off the page to you and he's likely never going to be much more than a flex play, but he's been a touchdown fiend the past few weeks.
After rushing for a score in each of his last three games, the fourth-year back out of Clemson found the end zone twice in New York's loss to Philadelphia. Quarterback Daniel Jones was actually the Giants' leading rusher with 64 yards on nine carries, but it seems that a run-heavy scheme might be here to stay for New York.
If that's the case, Gallman is a great streaming option with Devonta Freeman out indefinitely. And that's especially so this week when the Giants face a Cincinnati defense that leaks like a sieve against the run, ranking 27th in the league and allowing more than 133 yards per game on the ground.
Stat Projection: 68 yards, one touchdown
Nyheim Hines, RB, Colts
4 of 5
Hines' workload until this point in the season hasn't been particularly consistent, but after Thursday night, a change could be in order. The third-year back rushed 12 times for 70 yards and a touchdown, and he added five catches for 45 yards and another score in the Colts' 34-17 win over Tennessee.
After mostly playing a backup role to Johnathan Taylor this season, Hines has cut into Taylor's workload significantly, and he's been more effective, too. Whether that continues is up to Indy's play-callers, but with an impending matchup against Green Bay's middle-of-the-road run defense, Hines has potential for another solid game.
Stat Projection: Four catches, 85 total yards, one touchdown
