Nigeria 2-0 South Korea

Germany 1-0 Spain

France 2-1 Norway

Wednesday Recap

Germany won their second game of the competition, but only just, beating Spain by the slimmest of margins.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Sara Dabritz was the difference, exploiting a mistake to fire home the only goal after 42 minutes.

Spain impressed in their opening 3-1 win over South Africa and dominated the ball for long periods against the Germans. However, the Spanish failed to develop a threat in the second half, with Germany collecting maximum points.

Germany highlighted Dabritz's performance:

France struggled to take care of the Norwegian threat in Nice but took the points with a 2-1 win.

After a tight first half, Valerie Gauvin gave France the lead less than 60 seconds after the half-time restart.

There was a horror moment for French captain Wendie Renard after 54 minutes. The Lyon defender tapped the ball in for an own goal when she had the chance to clear her lines.

A decision using the video assistant referee saw a penalty awarded to France after Ingrid Engen was penalised for catching Marion Torrent with her studs as her boot followed through.

Eugenie Le Sommer tucked away the penalty after 72 minutes to secure the points, and after that it seemed Norway had run out of gas.

After losing their opening game 3-0 to Norway, Nigeria needed to get points on the board to stay in the competition.

A 2-0 win against South Korea provided a tonic, and the Super Falcons are well placed to make it into the knockouts.

Kim Doyeon's own goal after 29 minutes broke the deadlock, with the winners adding a second through Asisat Oshoala with 15 minutes remaining.

The video assistant referee was used for the first goal to clear up a claim of handball against Desire Oparanozie, but the decision fell in Nigeria's favour, per Fox Soccer (U.S. only).

The president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, congratulated the team on gaining three points:

Nigeria now sit third, level on three points with Norway in the Group A standings.
