Nebraska's Maurice Washington Faces Revenge Porn Charges for Sending Video

Nebraska Cornhuskers running back Maurice Washington has been charged with revenge porn and distribution of child pornography for sending a video to his ex-girlfriend that showed her being sexually assaulted when she was 15 years old, according to Vicky Nguyen, Michael Bott, and Mark Villarreal of NBC Bay Area.

Per that report, Washington "did not record the video and is not part of the alleged assault involving his ex-girlfriend and two former classmates. But Washington is accused of keeping the video on his phone and sending it to the victim last March, along with the message, 'Remember this hoe [sic].'"

Washington dated the woman while he was a freshman at King's Academy High School in Sunnyvale, California. One of the 17-year-old boys involved in the assault was previously "arrested in 2016 and placed on probation for distribution of child pornography after he recorded the video and sent copies to classmates, which soon spread like wildfire across the school."

Neither of the boys in the video were arrested for sexual assault, however, as the woman did not report it as rape at the time because she was ashamed. She said she the boys told her they were going to a fast food restaurant, but instead they pulled the car over in a different location and told her they were going to have a threesome, raping her while videotaping it without her knowledge.

"I was just like, 'Oh my God, everyone thinks I made a sex tape, everyone thinks that I'm some freak who wanted to have sex on video camera and send it to my school,'" she said. "I [was] 15 years old, how could you believe that?"

She told NBC Bay Area she is considering filing sexual assault charges now, however.

She also spoke about Washington sending her the video again in March 2018. She said she had texted him to congratulate him on him on likely getting a football scholarship, and he responded with the video.

"I tried so hard to forget it, and then to have someone just throw it back in my face like that and taunt me with it was just so evil," she said. "Maybe that's the wrong word to use, but I felt like it was evil, like why would you ever want somebody to feel that pain that I felt that day?"

According to that report, Nebraska was made aware of the accusations against Washington, though he played last season for the Cornhuskers, appearing in 11 games.
