BYU football has solidified its future at the quarterback position with the addition of 2019 recruit Jacob Conover.

The 4-star prospect announced his decision on Twitter Sunday:

Conover is considered the No. 9 pro-style quarterback in the class by the 247Sports composite rankings and the No. 216 player overall. He is also the No. 3 player from the state of Arizona but chose the Cougars despite having scholarship offers from both Arizona and Arizona State as well as Alabama.

Although Conover will start his senior year in high school next fall, he likely won't enroll until 2021 until after an LDS Church mission for two years.

"I've been praying really hard and I received the answer that I'm going on the mission so that's 100 percent now," he said last week, per Chris Karpman of 247Sports. "I've talked with both schools (ASU and BYU) and they're both willing to hold scholarships so I appreciate that and feel good about it."

Considering BYU already signed two quarterbacks in the 2018 class—Zachary Wilson and Stacy Conner—the school has options going forward.

Meanwhile, Conover is worth the wait as a proven passer who has led his team to two straight state championships, per Dave Miller of Gridiron Now.

"Conover is a fantastic player that can make all the throws," Jason Jewell of Sports360AZ explained. "He has a quick release, throws a nice ball and is extremely accurate."

After missing a bowl game last season for the first time in 13 years, BYU needs impact players, and Conover has the potential to be a very important part of this program down the line.
