Yankees, Red Sox Reportedly to Play Games at London's Olympic Stadium in 2019

Major League Baseball's biggest rivalry will reportedly play a two-game series in London next season.
Per Ronald Blum of the Associated Press, the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees will play at London (Olympic) Stadium on July 29-30 next year.
Blum noted an official announcement will likely be made next week after London Mayor Sadiq Khan scheduled a May 8 press conference with MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred.
After MLB and the MLB Players' Association agreed to a new collective bargaining agreement in November 2016, MLB.com's Bryan Hoch noted the framework was in place for one regular-season series to be played in London.
"The Yankees have been at the forefront of suggesting that we bring the great game of baseball to London," Yankees president Randy Levine told Hoch in an email. "There have been some meaningful attempts to do so, and we are hopeful and confident that we can play there soon. Playing the Red Sox in London would be a unique and special event."
MLB expanded its global focus this season with a two-game series between the Cleveland Indians and Minnesota Twins in Puerto Rico last month. The San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers will play a three-game series in Mexico from May 4-6.
London has never hosted an MLB regular-season game. London Stadium, formerly known as Olympic Stadium, was constructed for the 2012 Summer Games and currently serves as the home of West Ham United in the English Premier League.
