Derrius Guice Ready for 'Clean Slate' After Being Drafted by Redskins
After the Washington Redskins ended Derrius Guice's draft slide on Friday, the running back is looking for a fresh start coming into the NFL.
"Everything that is behind me is behind me," Guice said, via ESPN.com's John Keim. "This is a fresh, clean slate. I'm just ready to get to work."
After Guice fell to the Redskins as the 59th overall pick in the second round, questions about his off-field character began to surface.
Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, sources noted Guice was viewed by NFL teams as "immature" and "high-maintenance." Rapoport said Guice's visits "did not go well" and that teams discovered some unreported incidents.
NFL Network's Benjamin Allbright reported Guice was involved in an altercation during his pre-draft meeting with the Philadelphia Eagles and "had several meetings where he came across lazy" and "only wants to play video games."
Guice was a standout runner at LSU. He had over 1,000 yards on the ground in each of the previous two seasons with 26 total touchdowns.
Washington will hope Guice can put those issues behind him. The team hasn't had a 1,000-yard running back since Alfred Morris in 2014.
