Klay Thompson to Live with Brother Trayce After A's Claim Outfielder
Klay Thompson already shared the Bay Area with one brother, fellow Splash Bro Stephen Curry. Now, he will welcome another—his actual brother, Trayce.
It's been a busy week for the younger Thompson. The New York Yankees claimed the outfielder off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday. It would be a short stay in pinstripes, however, as he would head back across the country on Thursday after being claimed by the Oakland Athletics.
That's right. Both Thompson brothers will now be playing for Bay Area teams. In fact, the Oakland Alameda Coliseum and Oracle Arena are next door to each other.
Arguably the best news for Trayce is that he won't have to worry about finding a place while settling in with his new team. According to Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle, he'll be living with his big brother:
Just like when they were growing up...except now they are both professional athletes.
A's manager Bob Melvin discussed the turn of events on Thursday, per Jane Lee of MLB.com:
"I think it's pretty cool. I talked to him, and he's really excited. I think everybody is pretty excited about that, not just us on the team, but the fanbase might like that one as well.
"I know Klay a little bit, and I'm sure he's pretty happy about this, too. This makes some sense, and man, the times that we've seen him this spring, whether it was with the White Sox or Dodgers, he's swung the bat well."
The Thompson family has to be hoping that Trayce won't be placed on waivers again anytime soon.
