Portugal were the surprise winners of the UEFA 2016 European Championship but may feel that with Ronaldo in their ranks, then just about anything is possible. The team failed to make it through the group stages at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil but will be hoping to improve on that showing.
All eyes will be on Ronaldo who comes into the game in sensational form. ESPN FC highlighted just how prolific he has been in 2018:
Ronaldo has also been used to show off the new kit the team will be wearing in Russia:
The Real Madrid star is not the only big name in the Portugal side. Manchester City's Bernardo Silva, AC Milan's Andre Silva and Barcelona's Andre Gomes are also key players in a talented squad.
The team are currently third in the FIFA rankings behind only Germany and Brazil and will face Spain, Morocco and Iran in World Cup Group B. A place in the knockout phase will be expected, and the game against Spain will be one of the standout ties in the group stages.
Egypt will also be in Russia as they booked their place in the World Cup finals for the first time in 28 years largely thanks to Salah's brilliance.
The Liverpool forward has been a revelation at Anfield this season with an incredible 28 goals in 30 Premier League games. Squawka Football showed his overall contribution:

Perhaps unsurprisingly, his stunning form has led to speculation he could become a target for Real Madrid. However, Liverpool are ready to resist offers from Los Blancos for the Egyptian, per Chris Bascombe at the Telegraph.
Goal's Ben Hayward said he could be ideal for Real Madrid:
Friday's game gives Salah the opportunity to go up against Ronaldo, and it will be interesting to see which of the two prolific forwards has the biggest impact. Portugal have the stronger squad and don't tend to concede too many goals, which should just give them the edge on Friday.
Prediction: Egypt 1-2 Portugal
