Rules: Every European league has been assigned a difficulty rating between one and two by UEFA, which is multiplied by a player's goal tally to calculate his overall points total.
Europe's top five leagues have a maximum rating and so goals are worth two points, whereas as in the Portuguese or Turkish top flights goals are worth just 1.5 points each.
Kane Leads the Way
Kane netted his 99th Premier League goal in 139 matches on Sunday as he headed home an equaliser from Ben Davies' corner after Davinson Sanchez had scored an own goal.
The England international has an excellent record against Southampton, per the Premier League:
It wasn't enough to earn Spurs a win, but it elevated him ahead of Cavani and Ciro Immobile at the top of the standings.
Cavani's goal in PSG's eight-goal win on Wednesday marked a significant milestone for him in the French capital, per Squawka Football:
The Uruguay international might have had the chance to stand alone as PSG's all-time top goalscorer when he won a penalty later in the match, but the spot-kick was taken by Neymar to the displeasure of the Parisian fans.
After he failed to get on the scoresheet in PSG's 2-1 defeat to Lyon on Sunday, he'll have to wait a little longer to secure the record.
As for Messi, even by his peerless standards he was exceptional on Sunday.
Ivan Rakitic opened the scoring after a goalless first half and a fine one-on-one finish from Messi doubled Barcelona's lead.
Messi had his second and Barca's fourth in the 80th minute after he danced past Betis' defenders, and he did the same before teeing up Luis Suarez for a brace of his own.
His performance even moved the home fans to applause, per Grup 14's Rafael Hernandez:
Messi has netted in six of Barca's last seven La Liga matches, quietly but consistently climbing the standings with each passing week.
If he can continue to do so, he will be in contention to defend his Golden Shoe title.
