Arsenal vs. Liverpool

The Gunners and the Reds are separated by only one point in the league, with the visitors commanding fourth spot, but both clubs are experiencing a disappointing campaign against expectations.

Arsenal were expected to mount a serious challenge after missing out on UEFA Champions League qualification last term, but the addition of Alexandre Lacazette has not improved matters.

The north London side are 19 points behind leaders Manchester City, and with only 18 games of the season gone, it appears their biggest ambitions are already over.

Liverpool are in a similar situation, but their continued involvement in the Champions League has kept fans motivated at Anfield.

Reds coach Jurgen Klopp has failed to address the perennial defensive issues that appear each year on Merseyside, and despite a wonderful attacking core, Liverpool remain weak at the back.

However, the visitors have displayed better form in recent games, shutting out their opponents with increased vigour.

Football writer and Liverpool supporter, Carl Clemente, highlighted the improvement:

Mohamed Salah has kept Liverpool in the hunt for silverware this season, and Arsenal will be paying special attention to the Egyptian magician.

The attacker has linked with Roberto Firmino, allowing Klopp to play his favoured brand of heavy-metal football.

The 25-year-old has scored 19 goals in the Premier League and Europe in his first campaign for the Reds—an extraordinary return for a non-striker.

Both sides are desperate for victory on Friday, and defeat will further pile the pressure on two coaches who are not performing to standard.

Prediction: 2-2

Leicester City vs. Manchester United

Manchester United's Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho gestures as he awaits kick off in the English Premier League football match between West Bromwich Albion and Manchester United at The Hawthorns stadium in West Bromwich, central England, on December 17,

The Foxes have experienced difficulties since winning the Premier League, and their status has fallen since shocking the world to become English champions.

The visit of United will motivate the home team to perform on Saturday evening, but the Red Devils are desperate for points and momentum.

Despite a credible start to their season, United are in a vortex of pain as they watch City streak away above them.

The Sky Blues have been so good, they have eclipsed United's achievements, and manager Jose Mourinho has been forced to defend his tactics as the critics circle around him.

The perception of Romelu Lukaku's form has also been up for debate, but the Belgium international has found the net when the service has been present.

Creativity has been a continued issue, and with Paul Pogba missing games through injury and suspension, the Old Trafford giants have been exposed in this department.

Lukaku has 14 goals in 24 appearances in the Premier League and Champions League—a solid return for a new player—but United have not produced the swashbuckling displays of their neighbours from Manchester.

Leicester are comfortable in eighth place, a position they will be happy to finish in at the end of the campaign, but three points against their next opponents will ease the pressure over Christmas.

The heat remains on Mourinho's back into the new year, and United have to win with confidence to keep supporters happy as 2017 ends.

Prediction: 1-1
