The 25-year-old was at the centre of a huge fight that started when he twice fired a ball at full force at a Guangzhou player. He then tried to carry on with the match, but his opponents swarmed him, leading to the brawl.

Per Goal, two players were sent off as a result of the brawl, but Oscar was not. Opposing manager Dragan Stojkovic called for a fitting punishment, however:
"I never allow my players to play so dirty. We respect our opponents, spectators and referees.
"Justice will prevail. I believe everybody saw what happened and I saw quite clearly what happened."
Both teams finished the match with 10 players, with the two sides sharing the spoils in a 1-1 draw.
