Washington Generals Counter Globetrotters by Drafting LaVar Ball, Conor McGregor
Thomas DuffyJun 20, 2017
On Tuesday, the Harlem Globetrotters held their 11th annual draft. While some of the names are unrealistic, five current members of the squad joined after getting picked in previous years.
Here's who the Globetrotters took:
- Gal Gadot, star of Wonder Woman
- Aaron Judge, New York Yankees slugger
- Naz Mitrou-Long, Iowa State Cyclones sharpshooter
- A.J. Merriweather, high-flying dunker from East Tennessee State
- Rodney Pryor, 2017 College Slam Dunk Champion
- Tim Tebow, Columbia Fireflies outfielder and former NFL quarterback
Not to be outdone—though they usually are—the Washington Generals held their own draft. Theirs was a bit more wild.
- LaVar Ball, father of NBA-bound guard Lonzo Ball
- Tyler Livingston, fouls leader at University of Massachusetts-Lowell
- Ryan Lochte, Olympic gold medalist swimmer
- Conor McGregor, UFC lightweight champion
- Joe Nickerson, University of the District of Columbia Firebirds guard who led team in points, rebounds, steals and three-point percentage
- Ndamukong Suh, Miami Dolphins defensive tackle
Here's hoping none of the draftees turn down the invite. The world needs LaVar and McGregor on the same floor.
