Mississippi State's Spring Game Ends After DB Drills RB with Illegal Hit to Head

Thomas DuffyApr 10, 2017

Rarely do you see violent hits in intrasquad spring football games.

Saturday's Mississippi State Bulldogs exhibition was an outlier.

The contest was called off after defensive back Jonathan Abram walloped running back Bennie Braswell III in what was a clear violation of the targeting rule. Braswell was trying to pick up the squirming ball of a botched quarterback pitch when Abram smoked the unaware ball-carrier.
