Taurrian Stafford, an offensive line recruit in the 2018 class from Miami (Fla.) Central, received a fake scholarship offer from the University of Auburn as a prank.
Per Keith Niebuhr of 247Sports, Stafford said he received a call from someone claiming to be Auburn offensive line coach Herb Hand, who made him a scholarship offer.
Stafford addressed the situation on Twitter:
"I just pray the blessings stay upon me on my journey to success pic.twitter.com/PCZqMdSKFu

Hand also addressed the situation on Twitter, saying "only a true scumbag" would pull off a prank like this and the person "should reevaluate the priorities in your life."
The person who pulled off the prank on Stafford has not been identified, though Stafford told Niebuhr it came from the 334 area code, which is in southeastern Alabama.
Stafford also told Niebuhr that during his conversation with the real Hand, the Auburn coach said he would come down to Miami and evaluate him in the spring.
Per Scout.com, Stafford currently has Florida A&M, Marshall and South Florida among his schools of interest.
