Marcus Smart Has Heated Exchange with Celtics Assistant Coaches on Bench
Throughout a long season, players and coaches will have disagreements from time to time.
And that's never truer than when things aren't going well.
During a timeout near the end of Tuesday night's 123-108 loss to the Washington Wizards, Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart was involved in a heated confrontation with his assistant coaches on the bench. There were some words exchanged, but fortunately for the team, that was the extent of the matter.
After the game, Celtics coach Brad Stevens revealed to reporters that the issue stemmed from Smart's desire to be on the court.
"So he just wanted to go back in. And he had played 12 [consecutive] minutes or whatever, so he wasn't going to go back in," Stevens said, adding, "He wanted to go back in badly."
Smart later took to Twitter to apologize for his actions:
Emotions ran high in this rivalry game, and Smart's feelings got the best of him. He has accepted responsibility for the situation, so the Celtics can move on and try to snap their three-game losing streak. If not, arena walls better look out:
