SportsBusiness Daily Releases List of 2016-17 College Football Bowl Gifts
College football players won't get paid for earning their schools bowl bids, but they will at least go home with some cool stuff.
In a tradition that somehow adheres to the NCAA's stringent rules, each bowl game doles out gifts to the players. SportsBusiness Daily released the full list of goody bags for this season's 41 bowls, and the packages vary significantly.
Like anyone scrambling for a last-minute holiday gift, many bowl organizers will give out gift cards. Players from the Military Bowl and Citrus Bowl will get treated to shopping sprees.
Watches, particularly from Fossil, proved to be the season's most popular present. Oklahoma State and Colorado players will all receive an Apple Watch Nike+ for their participation in the Alamo Bowl.
Some hosts got more creative. Those in charge of the Armed Forces Bowl will attempt to get everyone in the holiday spirit by giving out festive sweaters. And with perhaps the most thoughtful—or potentially creepy—gift of all, the TaxSlayer Bowl will distribute personalized bobbleheads.
