College Football Scores 2016: Week 14 Results, Twitter Reaction and Highlights
The Oklahoma Sooners know they are on the outside looking in as far as the College Football Playoff is concerned, but Bob Stoops' team continues to play well.
The Sooners earned the Big 12 Championship in their 38-20 victory over archrival Oklahoma State. The Sooners dominated the second half of the game, outscoring the Cowboys 21-3 to put a stranglehold on the game.
Head coach Bob Stoops won his 10th conference title since arriving at Oklahoma in 1999. No other Big 12 team has won more than two over that same time frame.
Stoops is trying to chase down conference legends Bud Wilkinson, Tom Osborne and Barry Switzer. Wilkinson, a legendary Oklahoma coach, won 14 conference titles (when the conference was known as the Big Eight), while Osborne won 13 championships (Big Eight/Big 12) and Barry Switzer won 12 crowns (Big Eight/Big 12).
Oklahoma's defense had been a liability early in the year in losses to Ohio State and Houston, but that unit has shown quite a bit of improvement in recent weeks. Holding the explosive Cowboys to a field goal in the final 30 minutes may have been the Sooners' best showing of the year over a sustained period.
Baker Mayfield was once again the trigger man for the relentless Oklahoma offense. He completed 13 of 19 passes for 288 yards, averaging better than 15 yards per pass and 22.2 yards per completion. Mayfield also threw three touchdown passes.
Mayfield had plenty of help from running back Samaje Perine and wideout Dede Westbrook (below).
| Oklahoma (9) | 38-20 | Oklahoma State (10) | Oklahoma: 341 rushing yards |
| Temple | 34-10 | Navy (19) | Temple: 3-0 edge in takeaways |
| Alabama (1) | 54-16 | Florida (15) | Alabama: Interception return and blocked punt return for touchdowns in first quarter. |
| West Virginia (16) | 24-21 | Baylor | West Virginia: 4-0 advantage in takeaways |
Stars of the Week
RB Samaje Perine, Oklahoma
It was a huge day for Perine as Oklahoma pulled off the key Bedlam victory, but it was the touchdown he didn't score that will have college football fans talking for quite a while.
Oklahoma used its running attack to dominate the Cowboys in the second half, and Perine was the star. He carried the ball 37 times for 239 yards, and he scored one touchdown.

He could have had a second touchdown after taking a handoff with 52 seconds remaining on a 4th-and-1 play from the Oklahoma State 13. Perine busted through the line and went down on one knee when he got to the 2 rather than score the touchdown. That ensured the Sooners would retain possession and run out the clock.

WR Dede Westbrook, Oklahoma
The star Oklahoma receiver had no problems getting open and making big plays for the Sooners.
He caught four passes from Mayfield for 111 yards, and one of those passes was a 69-yard TD reception in which he made an excellent catch and then avoided several Oklahoma State tacklers.
Westbrook has 74 receptions for 1,465 yards and 16 touchdowns this season. At 6'0" and 175 pounds, Westbrook has speed, elusiveness and fine hands, and has become one of the top big-play receivers in the nation.
Westbrook was hammered later in the game by Oklahoma State's Jordan Sterns, and he was not able to return to action.

LB Jarred Alwan, Temple
Temple had a huge assignment against Navy in its final regular-season game.
If the Owls were going to win, they had to find a way to keep the Navy running game in check. Alwan took it upon himself to make sure the Midshipmen never got rolling in that area.
Alwan had 13 tackles, including six solo stops as the Navy offense was held in check in the 34-10 defeat. The vaunted rushing game was held to 168 yards on 44 carries. Navy had been averaging 342.0 rushing yards prior to meeting the Owls.

RB Justin Crawford, West Virginia
The Mountaineers jumped out to a big lead but had to hang on to beat Baylor 24-21.
Crawford was instrumental in West Virginia's 10th win of the season as he gained 209 yards on 28 carries. Crawford demonstrated he was capable of winning the battle when he took on Baylor tacklers, but he also showed he was capable of running by the Bears on a 66-yard run.
This was the fifth time Crawford ran for 100 or more yards this season, and the second time he went for 200 yards or more.
