Michigan State vs. Penn State: Live Score and Highlights
Final - Penn State 45, Michigan State 12.
When Penn State began the 2016 season 2-2 after a 49-10 loss to Michigan, the Nittany Lions looked like anything but Big Ten title material. Nobody told James Franklin and his team, however. No. 7 Penn State finished strong Saturday, turning a 12-10 halftime deficit into a 45-12 rout of Michigan State.
Coupled with Ohio State's double-overtime win over Michigan (which finished after MSU-PSU kicked off and elicited a huge roar when the Buckeyes won), Penn State won the Big Ten East title and will face off against Wisconsin next week in Indianapolis.
Quarterback Trace McSorley threw for 376 yards and four touchdowns and played a huge role in Penn State's 35-0 second-half whitewashing of the Spartans. Meanwhile, Michigan State has a lot to think about. A year after they made their first College Football Playoff, the Spartans finished a highly disappointing 3-9 despite leading in every game.
