De'Veon Smith rushed for a career-high 158 yards and guided the No. 3 Michigan Wolverines to a hard-fought 20-10 win over the Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday afternoon.

The Wolverines (10-1, 7-1 Big Ten) survived the scare partly because of Smith's two long touchdowns. John O'Korn finished just 7-of-16 for 59 yards while replacing Wilton Speight, though O'Korn's 30-yard scramble was a key play for Michigan.

But another excellent defensive effort carried the Wolverines, who surrendered just 3.9 yards per play. Indiana (5-6, 3-5) held a 10-6 lead in the second half but couldn't hold on.
