Arizona State Sun Devils vs. Washington Huskies Betting Odds, Football Pick

OddsShark.comNov 15, 2016

It's almost hard to believe, but Arizona State owns a 10-game winning streak in the rivalry with Washington, going 10-0 against the spread in the process. However, bookmakers believe that streak will come to an end this week, installing the Huskies as huge favorites for Saturday's game with the Sun Devils in Seattle.

Point spread: The Huskies opened as 26-point favorites, according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark (line updates and matchup report).

Why the Arizona State Sun Devils can cover the spread

ASU started 5-1 this season but has struggled since, losing four in a row, including a 49-26 decision against Utah last week. The Sun Devils led the Utes 13-0 after one quarter and trailed only 28-26 through three quarters but faded from there, creating a slightly misleading final score.

Arizona State actually won time of possession by a 36-24 margin but gave up three long Utah offensive touchdowns and had an interception returned for a score.

Sun Devils sophomore quarterback Manny Wilkins, who had missed recent action with a sore shoulder, returned last week and threw for 309 yards and a touchdown, although he also threw two interceptions.

Two weeks ago, ASU trailed at Oregon by only five points well into the fourth quarter but gave up two late scores to create another slightly misleading final tally of 54-35. At 5-5 overall, the Sun Devils need one win in their last two games to become bowl-eligible for the sixth-straight season.

Why the Washington Huskies can cover the spread

Washington was 9-0 and ranked No. 4 in the last week's College Football Playoff rankings but laid an egg in a big game at home last Friday against USC, losing 26-13. The Huskies trailed the Trojans 17-6 at the half, pulled to within 17-13 and had a chance to get even closer, but a field goal got blocked, turning momentum back toward Southern Cal, where it remained for the rest of the game.

Prior to last week, though, Washington was rolling with 12 straight victories, going 8-4 ATS during that run. The Huskies had also outgained each of their first nine opponents this season, six by at least 160 yards.

At 6-1 in conference play Washington now trails first-place Washington State by a game in the Pac-12 North. But the Huskies get their shot at the Cougars in the Apple Cup next week in Pullman.

Smart pick

Washington is coming off a down effort but might be primed for a rebound. Arizona State, on the other hand, is fading hard. So despite an inflated spread, Washington appears to be the wise choice here at online sports betting sites.
