
South Sudan Young Stars Team Bus Attacked by Gunmen in Fatal Shooting
Players and staff from one of South Sudan's top-flight football clubs were attacked on Tuesday by unidentified gunmen who fired at their team bus in Juba, per the Confederation of African Football.
The driver was killed in the attack, while six others suffered injuries, including the Young Stars club chairman.
According to the Associated Press, "South Sudan has been in a near-constant state of civil war since it gained independence from Sudan in 2011."

Earlier in the day, prior to the attack on the team bus, a group of people who were watching football at a bar were fired upon, and 11 people died.
The Young Stars were heading back to their Torit home after losing in the domestic cup final to Alsalam Wau when the attack on the bus took place.
Per the CAF release, "CAF President, Issa Hayatou, has on his own behalf, CAF Executive Committee and the African football family extended his condolences to the South Sudan Football Association, and the bereaved families, whilst wishing the injured speedy recovery."
