Multiple People Shot Dead While Watching Televised Football Match in South Sudan

Multiple people have reportedly been shot dead in South Sudan as they watched an English Premier League game on television.

Per BBC, it’s suggested at least 11 people have been killed as a result of the attack, which happened in Gure, a suburb of the town of Juba, and 16 more were injured. According to Agence France-Presse (h/t AS), nine people were shot dead by the unidentified gunman, with 11 wounded.

As noted by BBC, the South Sudanese newspaper National Courier reported that the shooter managed to escape despite a "prompt response” from local authorities.

“The investigation is going on,” said South Sudan police spokesman Daniel Justin, per AFP, while a motive has yet to be identified.
