Kevin Durant Discusses Russell Westbrook's Wardrobe, More After Win vs. Thunder
Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook took an apparent jab at former teammate Kevin Durant through his wardrobe choice before Thursday's game between OKC and the Golden State Warriors, but KD was unfazed based on his postgame comments.
Prior to the Dubs' 122-96 victory, Westbrook was seen wearing a photographer's bib, as evidenced by this photo, courtesy of ESPN:
According to ESPN.com's Royce Young, it was likely in reference to Durant's photography hobby.
Despite the troll job, Durant didn't take the opportunity to fire back at the NBA MVP candidate, per ESPN.com's Chris Haynes: "I don't care what anybody wearing to the game, man. Who gives a s--t. I don't care what he wore."
Westbrook also declined to make a bigger deal of the bizarre fashion choice, according to Young: "I don't wear anything for nobody. I wear what I want to wear, when I want to wear it."
Durant did the bulk of his talking on the court, as he dropped a game-high 39 points to go along with seven rebounds.
There was some back-and-forth jawing between Durant and some of his former teammates, but he insisted it was nothing out of the ordinary, per Haynes:
"I know those guys over there, and they know me. Trash-talking is a part of it. Anybody who's seen me play or gets this close to me and know how I play out on the court. They know what it is. As long as we're in between the lines, everything is all good with me. So I'm going to go out there and be who I am. You talk to me, I talk back. I don't really say much but if you start, I'll finish it.
"
Durant and Westbrook were seemingly once the best of friends, but Westbrook revealed in September they haven't talked since the former NBA MVP and seven-time All-Star bolted for the Warriors during the offseason.
While Durant said Tuesday he and Westbrook are still "brothers," according to the Mercury News (via ESPN.com), they had no interaction before or after Thursday's tilt.
Although it's clear Durant is attempting to take the high road and move forward, Westbrook's comments and actions suggest he's still hurt by the manner in which Durant's departure from OKC played out.
