With SEC West and possible playoff implications on the line Saturday night, two national powerhouses in Alabama and LSU collided in Death Valley.

With the game scoreless after three quarters, Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts lifted Alabama to a late win with his play in the final frame. The true freshman scrambled for 21-yard score to break the tie before leading a nearly 10-minute drive after a Danny Etling interception to seal the game.

On the night, Hurts ran 20 times for 114 yards and a touchdown to lead the Crimson Tide. He also contributed 107 yards through the air with an interception on 10-of-19 passing. Damien Harris and Bo Scarbrough also chipped in on the ground game, combining for 105 yards on 23 carries.

LSU only mustered 125 yards of total offense thanks to a lackluster outing from Etling. The quarterback only netted 92 yards on 11-of-24 passing, and 41 of those yards came on a first-quarter toss downfield to D.J. Chark. This was especially significant considering Alabama sold out to smother Leonard Fournette, as the dominant running back totaled just 35 yards on 17 carries.

With the win, Alabama moves to 6-0 in SEC play, and its Iron Bowl showdown with Auburn looks to be the only obstacle between the Crimson Tide and the conference title game. It could also be the SEC West title game with Texas A&M losing on Saturday.

LSU's three-game winning streak is now snapped, but the team will need to rebound quickly as it travels to take on a good Arkansas team next week.
