Former Indiana Player Alleges Bob Knight Physically, Emotionally Abused Players

Former Indiana basketball player Todd Jadlow accused Hall of Fame coach Bob Knight of physical and emotional abuse in his memoir, Jadlow: On the Rebound.

Per Bob Kravitz of WTHR in Indianapolis, Jadlow stated Knight punched him in the back of the head, grabbed him by the neck and shook him violently and "made a habit...of grabbing players by the testicles and squeezing."

"If he did those things today," Jadlow said, "he would be in jail."

The book, written with former Indianapolis Star editor Tom Brew, is the former player's tale of a life of drugs and alcohol and his journey to recovery. According to Jeff Rabjohns of Rivals.com, Jadlow spent nearly two years in jail after being charged with driving under the influence four times in a six-month span, including twice in one day.

Jadlow played for Knight from 1985 until 1989. This included the 1985-86 season, which was chronicled in John Feinstein's renowned book, A Season on the Brink.

Jadlow said he still thinks highly of his former coach.

"I'm a Knight guy. I'm proud to have played for him and love him like a father; let's not mistake that," Jadlow said, per Kravitz. "But this was the life we led when we were playing for him."

Knight, who started his career at Army, was fired by Indiana in September 2000 after 29 years with the program because his behavior was deemed "uncivil, defiant and unacceptable." That March, former player Neil Reed had accused Knight of choking him in 1997.

After a year off, Knight spent seven seasons with Texas Tech. He retired from coaching in 2008.
