Fantasy Football Week 10: Updated Trade Value for Top 100 Players
There are always those players who elevate to the highest of highs during the fantasy season but always seem likely to take a dip in the long run—players who become essential adds on the waiver wire but slowly and surely start to lose value.
Maybe an injured player at their position returns, or a backup quarterback doesn't jell with them on the offense. Or maybe a series of easy matchups early in the season inflates their productivity. Whatever the case, there is always a sense with these players that they are about as likely to remain fantasy superstars as Kim Kardashian is to be voted as the president in 2020.

New England Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett isn't even on the list at this point and, honestly, is anyone surprised? After all, with quarterback Tom Brady and tight end Rob Gronkowski now resuming their dominance on the NFL, Bennett has scored a whopping seven fantasy points in his past three games combined.
Gronkowski, meanwhile, has 53 fantasy points in that span.
Drop Bennett. Trade him if you can. Bail, bail, bail. His days of fantasy relevance are in the past.
Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford is another player who is trending down. In the past three weeks, Stafford has registered totals of 17, 13 and 14 fantasy points, respectively. He's scored 20 or more fantasy points just once in his past six games. While he's a top-six quarterback, a major reason for that is his 66 fantasy points in his first three games.
However, since Week 4, he's averaging just 16 fantasy points per game. To put that in perspective, 15 quarterbacks this season have a better points-per-game average (and Brady would make it 16, though if we include suspensions and bye weeks, technically his per-game average is just 12.8 points).
In other words, the perception is that Stafford is a QB1, but he's played more like a QB2 after the first four weeks of the season.
So, if you wanted to try to sell Stafford high, what might you get? Well, probably not much, at least for savvy owners. As you can see, I have him pretty far down the ratings.
But, for the sake of the article, let's say the average owner values him as the sixth-ranked quarterback, where he currently resides. On my list, I have Derek Carr in that ranking. In that case, Stafford might net you the following deals:
- Devontae Booker and DeSean Jackson
- Darren Sproles and Coby Fleener
- Tyrell Williams and Jerick McKinnon
- Doug Baldwin and James White
Even those aren't great deals, but players like Baldwin and White could perform well down the stretch, while Booker will get plenty of touches in Denver (though he hasn't been terribly productive as the starter to this point).
But honestly, given Stafford's shaky form, dealing him if you have a strong quarterback on the roster makes a lot of sense.
How about Christine Michael?
The Seattle Seahawks running back is 13th in fantasy points at the position this year, but he has failed to score double-digit points twice in the past four weeks and four times in eight Seattle games. And there are plenty of other reasons to be concerned.
For one, an enormous 47.7 percent of his fantasy production this year has come from touchdowns, while he's rushed for over 100 yards just once this year and is averaging a mediocre 4.0 yards per carry. To put that in context, Melvin Gordon—who leads all running backs with 11 total touchdowns—is garnering just 41.5 percent of his points from reaching paydirt.
In other words, Michael's fantasy sustainability is unusually dependent on reaching the end zone. Even for running backs, that's always a gamble. Yardage is always more sustainable than touchdowns.
But there's more. In the last two weeks, he's rushed for all of 41 yards on 15 carries. C.J. Prosise has continued to get touches as well, meanwhile, and Thomas Rawls will return to action at some point. It's unlikely Michael has played well enough to keep Rawls out of the starting lineup.
Michael is on borrowed time, folks. Now would probably be a good time to abandon ship if you can. Barring a huge game against New England, his value is only going to continue to plummet.
