Russell Westbrook Responds to Kevin Durant's Comments About 'Selfless' Warriors
As Russell Westbrook prepares for his first season as the face of the Oklahoma City Thunder, the All-Star point guard is still answering questions about former teammate Kevin Durant.
Surrounded by media Thursday, Westbrook offered a response to Durant's comments about how the Golden State Warriors are "selfless."
"That's cute," Westbrook said, per ESPN.com's Royce Young. "Cute."

On Monday, Durant went into detail about the process that led to his signing with the Warriors as a free agent over the summer, per Anthony Slater of the San Jose Mercury News:
"You hear family a lot. That's just a word sometimes, but this is really a lifestyle here. You can feel it when you walk in the door, in the practice facility, everybody is just together. That's something that I can appreciate as a basketball player and someone who values relationships. You can tell that that's what they stand on, that's what we stand on. I feel really grateful to play for a team like that and play with a bunch of players who are selfless and enjoy the game in its purest form. They make it about the players, they make it about the environment, so it was really an easy choice.
"
When Westbrook was made aware of Durant's full quote, he gave a response that certainly carried a heavy dose of sarcasm.
"My job is to worry about what's going on here," Westbrook said. "We don't worry about all the selfish guys we've got over here, apparently."
Westbrook was also asked if he felt a lot of the comments made by Durant this summer were veiled shots at the Thunder.
"I don't care," Westbrook said. "To me, it doesn't matter. My job is to worry about here. Honestly, I'm really tired of talking about it. So, anytime anyone asks me another question, I'm just not going to answer."
In September, Durant said at a Nike event that he and Westbrook were "still cool," per CBS Sports' Matt Moore.
In July, though, Young reported that Westbrook and Durant had not spoken since Durant signed with the Warriors and that Westbrook was "angry and hurt" to not receive a phone call from his now-former teammate informing him that he was leaving.
Westbrook opted to make a commitment to the Thunder this summer, signing an extension through the 2018-19 season (though the last season is a player option) to take over as the leader of the franchise.
The ice doesn't seem to be thawing between Westbrook and Durant three months after everything went down, heightening the anticipation for their first head-to-head meeting on Nov. 3 at Golden State.
